Introduction to Manga

Manga is Japanese comic formed shortly after WW2. Due to the time it was originated, classic manga comic were usually full of killing, torture, hatred, betrayal and other similar conventions. Modern manga comic are now targeted at all ages and contain less violent actions. Manga in present includes numerous ranges of subject; from action-adventure, sports, sci-fi and fantasy, sexuality and etc. Nowadays, it is also exported to many countries, influencing their popular cultures, children, youth, and the ways of the people.
Japan has become the world leader in comics. Japanese manga, as comics here, have been publicized and promoted to the world over on television and in newspapers and the most popular works have been introduced and recognised abroad both through legal and pirated ways. However they remain insufficient for foriegn audiences, who are wishing to develop their understanding of the genre.

Osama Tezuka

Osamu Tezuka was a great Japanese cartoonist. Osamu started his career as a comic artist in 1946 with 'Machan no Nikkicho' for the children's magazine Mainichi Shogakusei Shinbun while he was a student at Osaka University. His first best-selling comic, 'Shin Takarajima' appeared in 1947, followed three years later by 'Jungle Taitei', which was published in Manga-Shonen.Osamu Tezuka was considered the equivalent of Walt Disney and the ‘father of Manga’ for the Japanese people. Osamu Tezuka most recognized work was Astro Boy which was a manga comic released in 1952 and later made into a anime ( Japanese cartoon) in 1963.
